Advancing Sustainable Industry, TMMIN Achieves Gold and Green PROPER Ratings and the Green Leadership Utama CEO Recognition

Jakarta, April 7, 2026 – PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) continues to contribute not only to economic growth but also to social development and environmental preservation. This commitment has once again been recognized through the company’s achievement of the Gold and Green ratings in the 2026 Corporate Performance Rating Program for Environmental Management (PROPER), organized by the Ministry of Environment.

All TMMIN production facilities located in Karawang, West Java, and Sunter successfully obtained Gold and Green PROPER ratings. In addition, in the 2026 PROPER assessment, TMMIN was also awarded the Green Leadership Utama CEO recognition, conferred upon TMMIN President Director, Nandi Julyanto.

Amid global uncertainty and increasing expectations from both the government and society for more responsible industrial practices, TMMIN consistently strengthens its role as part of the solution by implementing green industry principles. This year, the company introduced the KIJANGKU program (Konservasi Hijau Selamatkan Lingkunganku).

In addition to the awards received by TMMIN’s production facilities in Karawang and Sunter, TMMIN also secured the Green Leadership Utama CEO recognition. The highest PROPER rating, Gold, was achieved by TMMIN Karawang Plant 1 and 2. This accomplishment continues TMMIN’s positive track record from previous years, where Karawang Plants 1, 2, and 3 achieved Gold ratings. Meanwhile, Karawang Plant 3, Sunter Plant 1, and Sunter Plant 2 were awarded Green ratings.

This recognition reflects the company’s leadership in positioning environmental sustainability as a key strategic priority. This year, TMMIN also earned the Green Leadership Utama CEO recognition, awarded to President Director Nandi Julyanto for his initiatives, vision, and strategic decisions that support environmental sustainability and community empowerment.

Green Leadership has become a key aspect in achieving and maintaining the PROPER Gold rating. During the 2023–2024 period, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) officially incorporated this criterion into the PROPER assessment system. Companies are now evaluated not only on their technical environmental management performance but also on their leadership in driving sustainability transformation at a strategic level.

KIJANGKU as TMMIN’s Flagship Program

This year, TMMIN submitted the KIJANGKU Program in the PROPER assessment. The program demonstrates TMMIN’s tangible contribution to nature conservation, energy efficiency, and community empowerment.

TMMIN Karawang Plants 1 and 2 manage their environmental impact through a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach to identify and reduce emissions in manufacturing processes. Through the Eco-Innovation Smart Transforming Chiller System, the company enhances energy efficiency at key hotspots in the painting unit as part of its transition toward a low-carbon industry.

This initiative extends beyond the factory gate through the KIJANGKU Program, addressing coastal abrasion challenges in Pusakajaya Utara Village, Cilebar District, Karawang Regency. In collaboration with local communities, the program rehabilitates coastal areas through mangrove restoration, repurposing used tire waste into wave breakers (APO), and promoting economic empowerment based on nature-based solutions.

To date, KIJANGKU has established 14.96 hectares of mangrove conservation areas with a 98.6% survival rate, protecting 4.3 hectares of fish ponds, 27 hectares of agricultural land, and supporting 76 coastal families. This integrated approach ensures that manufacturing eco-innovation and nature-based social innovation progress in harmony—linking low-carbon industrial transformation with environmental restoration and community welfare.

Green Mobility, Innovation, and Strengthening an Environmentally Friendly Supply Chain

TMMIN Vice President Director, Bob Azam, stated that the Gold and Green PROPER awards, along with the 2026 Green Leadership Utama CEO recognition, reflect appreciation for the company’s initiatives in implementing effective and targeted environmental management practices aligned with sustainable development principles.
