Toyota's Initiative to Popularizes BEV

Many ways can be done to introduce Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) to the public. However, as a mobility provider company, Toyota will of course first focus specifically on a number of things, namely the development of technology and the amount of a stable supply of vehicles as well as an increase in battery life and reuse. Toyota will also continue to prepare the framework for responding to the challenges going forward thoroughly, including the creation of new business models.

Vehicle Electrification Initiative

There are three things that are considered as the core technology of an electric motor vehicle (KBL) by Toyota, namely electric motors, batteries, and Power Control Units (PCU). From this core technology, it can be developed into various types of electric motorized vehicles later. When more specific technology with this core technology is combined, vehicles will be created such as Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV), Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV). In fact, by adding an automatic steering system and connectivity technology, new mobility services can be created, namely Mobility as a Service (MaaS).

By developing this core technology, Toyota can serve consumers and society in various ways, not only by providing vehicles but also by providing systems and technology.

Electric Vehicle Popularization Growth

One and a half years since Toyota announced in 2017 about the expected sales of electric motor vehicles in 2030, it turns out that there is an increase that is more than expected, this shows that Toyota must be ready to reach the estimated figure almost five years earlier.

Zero-Emission Vehicles

Among various initiatives related to various types of electrification vehicles, Toyota puts forward its evolution from vehicles without emissions, such as FCEV, which does not emit CO2 during its use.

In addition to BEV technology, Toyota is developing a variety of vehicles, ranging from BEV-pedestrian zones (or pedestrian areas) to ultra-compact two-seat BEVs, as well as BEV conventional sized passenger vehicles.

E-Palette is Toyota's vision of BEV that provides a tangible form for Mobility as a Service (MaaS) whose development is nearing the final and will be used at the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
