TMMIN manufactory Received the Gold PROPER Award for the First-Time from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry
Jakarta, Wednesday, December 20, 2023 – PT Toyota Manufacturing Indonesia has achieved 2 categories of the Company Performance Rating Assessment Program (PROPER) from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) for its factories which is located in Sunter, North Jakarta and Karawang, West Java. This year, TMMIN Sunter 2 Factory has successfully obtained the Gold PROPER award, whereas the TMIIN Karawang 1 and 2 Factory has succeeded achieving Green PROPER for 2022 – 2023 period.
This award was given directly by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma’ruf Amin, and the Vice Minister of Environment and Forestry, Alue Dohong, to the President Director of PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia, Nandi Julyanto and the Manufacturing Director of PT TMMIN, I Ngoman Winaya, at Bidakara Hotel, South Jakarta, Wednesday (20/12/23).
The Gold PROPER is an award for companies that have exceeded environmental management requirements and have made continuous efforts in community development. Meanwhile, Green PROPER is given to companies that have exceeded environmental management requirements and have biodiversity.
“Through transparent reviews and evaluations towards company environmental practices, PROPER plays an important role in ensuring the company’s compliance with standards set by the government. More than just an evaluation instrument, PROPER is also a guide in improving targeted environmental performance. Active participation and excellence achievements in PROPER not only to improve reputation, but also strengthening the company’s credibility while continuing to encourage sustainable business that is in line with environmental policies on a national and global scale to make a positive contribution to society,” said Nandi Julyanto, President Director of PT TMMIN.
The PROPER award is a government initiative that has been going on for decades, assessing and categorizing companies’ performance in protecting the environment. Its main objectives are to strengthen the company’s role in conserving the environment and encouraging compliance with environmental regulations, while providing added value to the preservation of natural resources, energy conservation and community development. Environmental performance evaluation, including water and air pollution control, B3 hazardous waste management, as well as community empowerment efforts are important indicators on this program.
Encouraging the company’s role in compliance with environmental regulations and providing added value to the preservation of natural resources, energy conservation and community development, TMMIN has confirmed its commitment to socially and environmentally responsible business practices. This program is not only a driving force for TMMIN in creating innovations for environmental management, but also encourages the development of new technology, production processes and practices that are more environmentally friendly to support the Net Zero Emission target by 2035 in the manufactory area. TMMIN’s active role can be seen in efforts to produce low-emission vehicles, develop a sustainable supply chain, build production facilities with a low carbon footprint, reduce water consumption, implement a waste recycling system, and build a harmonious balance between communities and the natural environment.
“The involvement in this program and the evaluation achievements that led to the Gold PROPER award is providing momentum for Toyota to continue to creating innovations in environmental management, technology development, production processes, and new practices that are more environmentally friendly so that they can have a positive impact on the wider community in Indonesia. Certainly, this situation supports the government’s target to gain carbon neutrality targets in 2060 which can be achieved through the Triple Helix approach (Government – Business – Academics) to contribute towards sustainable development in Indonesia,” explained Bob Azam, Vice President Director of PT TMMIN.
According with the passion of celebrating 50 years of contribution to Indonesia, Toyota has set contribution targets for the next 50 years in the economic, social and environmental fields in accordance with the Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) which help to response the national issues and challenges. Divided into three categories in the Sustainability Commitment, specifically the environment which is in line with Toyota Environment Challenge 2050. Furthermore, social activities which actively provide opportunities for the younger generation to get a proper education in order to improve their standard of living, and lastly the governance, precisely upholding fair business, solid, and valuable to society by prioritizing great corporate governance.
“Indonesia has great potential for the young Indonesian generation as future leaders who are ready to face global challenges and competitions. Therefore, TMMIN continues to be committed in developing quality Human Resources (HR) by expanding educational programs which involve TMMIN employees, the supply chain and the younger generation in short training and accreditation systems. The aim of TMMIN commitment is to produce qualified and accredited experts,” concluded Bob Azam.
