Nurturing Dreams Through Education, A Small Step to Support Educational Development in Lombok

Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (July 14, 2026) – Vocational education plays a strategic role as a bridge connecting the education sector with the real needs of the workforce. Therefore, close and sustainable collaboration among the government, educational institutions, and industry is essential. PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) is expanding the reach of its vocational school development program to Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), through the donation of the latest vehicle engines as educational training aids to strengthen technical competencies at SMKN 1 Jonggat in Central Lombok and SMKN 2 Kuripan in West Lombok.

This initiative is part of TMMIN’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in the field of education, which aims to strengthen the quality of practical learning in vocational high schools (SMK). Guided by the company's philosophy, “Make People Before Make Product,” TMMIN believes that human development is the fundamental foundation for the advancement of both industry and the nation.

The donation was officially handed over by TMMIN President Director Nandi Julyanto during a ceremony held at SMKN 1 Jonggat. On this occasion, SMKN 1 Jonggat received one Toyota 2TR gasoline engine, while SMKN 2 Kuripan received one Toyota 2GD diesel engine. These engines will serve as practical training equipment and educational teaching aids for students, while also enhancing their skills and understanding of the latest Toyota engine technologies that are now widely used.

“We believe that the future of Indonesia’s industry is being built in the classrooms where students are learning today. This step may seem simple, but we hope it becomes part of their journey to grow, create, and contribute to the development of their respective regions,” said Nandi Julyanto.

Vocational School Development: Building an Industrial Culture from the Classroom

In addition to supporting learning facilities, TMMIN consistently implements its Vocational School Development program across partner vocational schools throughout Indonesia. The program aligns the learning process with industry needs through the development of industry-based curricula and the provision of educational learning tools.

TMMIN also implements its Industrial Culture Implementation program across its partner vocational schools. The program aims to instill industrial work culture values from an early stage, including discipline, efficiency, precision, workplace safety, collaborative teamwork, and compliance with operational standards.

“Education and industry can no longer operate separately. Link and match is an essential requirement for producing graduates who are relevant to industry needs. Schools prepare students’ competencies, while industry helps shape them. TMMIN wants to play a role in this process by supporting the government's efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of vocational graduates so they are ready to contribute and succeed, both in Indonesia and on the global stage,” added Nandi.

Before expanding to Lombok, TMMIN’s vocational education development program had already been implemented at partner vocational schools across various regions in Indonesia, including 29 partner vocational schools on the island of Java. The program’s presence in Lombok reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to expanding the benefits of vocational education development to more regions, enabling more students to gain access to learning that is relevant to industry needs. Through strong collaboration among educational institutions, the government, and industry, TMMIN hopes to contribute to creating a higher-quality vocational education ecosystem in Indonesia.
